Built in 1911, the Crook of Devon Institute was donated to the local residents of the village to benefit the local community. With the donation came the responsibility for running and maintaining the building, via a committee of local volunteers. In the mid ’90s – after much fundraising and with the award of some grants – the hall was extended and upgraded. Today, more than ever, it remains an important hub of the community, hosting regular activities such as yoga, youth club, toddlers, country dancing, ballet and badminton. It is also ideal for one-off events, such as birthday parties, christenings, ceilidhs, etc. It’s an ideal venue for any gathering. As we are a charity, it’s these events that pay for the upkeep and maintenance of the building.
The hall can hold in excess of 100 people and has excellent kitchen facilities.
We can provide you with details of local businesses, such as caterers, bands, DJs and party organisers to help you with your special occasion. Bookings can be made online here or in person at the village shop.
We look forward to welcoming you soon!
